When people need help, they come to someone who can help. However, after getting help, most people will go back to where they came from no matter how great the cost was to help the one in need. For the one who received help, the fact that they received help is the reason for joy instead of the person who helped. After being helped, they return as if nothing has happened and depart from the person who helped. They only think of themselves and never consider how great the cost was to help them.
Many people in the multitude that came to Jesus were like this. After receiving or witnessing a great miracle, it was a miracle that made them happy, not Jesus. Some of them didn’t even thank Him and left with rejoicing. Many people were interested in what Jesus did, but not so much what He said. It says in John chapter 6 that many people followed Jesus after seeing the miracle of feeding the 5,000, but when Jesus said that He was the Bread of Life, many stopped following Him and left Him. They did not walk with Jesus anymore. How sad!
The important point is what we will do after being helped. We need Jesus’ help, so we must come to Him, but what’s more important is that we stay with Him. The biggest actual blessing for us is to stay and walk with Jesus and build an intimate relationship with Him. Whatever happens or not, let’s stay with Jesus. If we do so, He will use everything that happens to us to show His glory. Yes, everything in our life can become a blessing of God!
