Eagles’ life is quite interesting. When we know it, we understood better why the eagle ismentioned many times in Psalms and Isaiah. Eagle is the symbol of Christ and alsorepresents us Christians who have hope in Christ.

The life expectancy of an eagle is about 70 years. It’s pretty long life. However, around40 years is the turning point of life for them and depending on the decision made then, itwill change if they can live for another 30 years or not. That decision is not easy at all butrather brutal. After 40 years, the long, sharp talons that were used for hunting is not at alllike the former days, their beak become old, worn and no more sharp, and the feathersbecome dirty and too heavy for them to fly as they want. Therefore, they must choose atthe turning point of life from choices: one is to die, and another is to endure pain and“change” to be renewed.

In the process of change, first the eagle must fly up to a high mountain and make a nestthere. There, they knock their beak against a rock until it crushes and plucks it out, and wait for their new beak to grow. When they get their new beak, they pluck out their talons with the beak. Again, they wait for the new talons to grow. Then after that, they will pluck their old-aged feathers out. In this time, they will be very weak and lose flesh. Yet by renewing everything like this, they will live for another 30 years!

Christ nailed His body on the cross, bore the brutal pain and unsparingly gave His life. This was so that everyone may have everlasting life, but also through this, He seated onthe throne. We too, not for life on this earth but for the everlasting life, give our old self upand wait on the Lord. So that we may soar up high like an eagle. Let us be like a renewedeagle!
