The disciples knew that Jesus was always praying. Therefore, they probably hadnoticed that was why Jesus did great things. So, they asked Jesus to teach them topray. This is when they were taught directly from Jesus, the Son of God, how topray “the Lord’s Prayer”. What a grateful thing this is!
Unfortunately, this special and great prayer the Lord has taught us is beingunderestimated. Some Christians only recite it like spell and don’t really pray with their hearts as it was taught. To be honest, when I was a newborn Christian, I didn’t think the Lord’s Prayer was so significant to me. I thought It was a prayer about Heaven which did not relate to my real life, about daily minimum needs that I did not need to ask, about temptation that I did not have a lot of, and about forgiveness that was notevery day but sometimes only, and seems the prayer was too easy.
Indeed, at that time, my interests and concerns were just about life in thisworld; the future, success happiness, and fame of this world. For me, Heaven wasunreal, daily needs being fulfilled naturally, that’s why solving my tasks and problems in my working area was much more important than His kingdom. This was because Icouldn’t see heaven as a reality.
Unfortunately, many Christians don’t live thinking of Heaven as very real. If we trulybelieve and start to seek Jesus and pray in the Spirit that lives within us, our lives willbe changed from glory to glory for His sake.
The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer taught by the Lord to us. This is a prayer that haseverything we need to keep a deeper relationship with God. Let’s make this prayer ourown prayer, live in prayer and deepen fellowship with God!
