Lethargic Times

There are times we feel dispirited. In our head, we know we have to do something, but our heart won’t come along. And we think, if it’s possible, we don’t want to see people because we are tired of smiling just on the surface as if like “no problem”, however, we also don’t feel like explaining how we feel honestly. We can say that this is a typical symptom of depression.

Despite the fact that I am not in a good position, if I choose to gather to worship and praise the Lord as I am, a wonder-full power comes and something unexpected happens in me. That is the proof that the living Lord is helping and comforting those who try to walk in faith.

Back in the Old Testament days, there were no psychiatrists or no diagnosis names like “depression” “melancholia,” yet if there was such a sickness back then, David and Elijah, Ezekiel and Jeremiah would have been diagnosed with heavy depression. However, those people were greatly used by the Lord to bring out the blessing of the Lord. That is because they chose to worship and praise the Lord always in their life, whatever their condition or circumstances.

As we live believing in Christ as our Lord and follow His way, we also experience hardships, pain, sadness, and even anger. When those things pile up, our passionate feelings will fade, and we will feel lethargic. However, whether our feelings can come along or not, let’s choose to worship Him. By doing so, the Lord who dwells in our worship will help us stand firm through His protection and consolation. Let’s trust in His Words and continue to walk in faith!
